Every few months we hold an Africa Speaks night. This is a night for us to learn more about Africa in a relaxed social setting. Each evening might contain any of the following focuses:
Africa Life with African Speakers- Africans living in or visiting Ireland take the floor to talk about their life in Ireland and in Africa. Each speaker can come from any type of background, giving us an insight into their own story and views.
Volunteer Presentation- Groups of Africa Direct volunteers get the chance to meet again to present photos and talk about their overseas experience.
Student Workplacement presentation- Every year we facilitate a UCC student to travel to Kenya to work with our partners for 5 and half months. It is such a valuable time over there that on their return we ask them to present their experience.
This is a free and an informal event usually set upstairs in the Rob Roy (28 Cook Street, Cork City) and open to all.
